José Manuel Barroso receives honorary doctorate - live updates from UCC

The President of the European Commission, José Manuel Barroso, will be speaking in UCC later today.

The former Prime Minister of Portugal will be awarded an honorary doctorate at the university and will deliver a 25-minute address.

He is expected to praise Ireland for a successful exit from the economic assistance programme and convey his admiration of and respect for the resilience of the Irish people.
