One of leaders, Siobhán McKillen, said the popular health and fitness show had put the sparkle back in her life.

The mother of two from Clondalkin, Dublin, who weighed 13st 12lb eight weeks ago, lost just over two stone and gained lots of confidence.

Siobhán, 35, said she felt like a film star when she sashayed down the catwalk for the show’s grand finale that will be broadcast tonight .

Marc Gibbs from Clane, Co Kildare, weighed 17st 1lb at the start of the RTÉ series that had an average of 522,000 viewers. He now weighs 14st 10lb.

The 44-year-old security guard and father-of-five had been searching for a balanced, healthy lifestyle.

His wife, Sally, worried that he might have a heart attack while he lived in denial. He sometimes used to have more than one dinner a day but would not let on to his wife.

Sarah Campbell, 24, also from Clane, Co Kildare, said she wanted to be an Operation Transformation leader because she did not want to be a fat bride.

The mother of two, who weighed 16st 10lbs at the start of the series and now weighs 13st ll½lbs, said she could only fit into a size 20 dress a year ago.

“I have now ordered a size 14 wedding dress,” said Sarah who hopes to weigh 13 stone in June, when she marries her fiancé, Mark, in June.

Asked if she had cut out smoking, Sarah said she had cut them down, but not cut them out. “Well, Mark has said I have 14 weeks to give them up or he is not marrying me.”
