Drunk woman kneed bouncer in the groin, court hears
Rachel Clark, aged 33, formerly of Cedarview House, Curraglass, Mallow, Co Cork, pleaded guilty yesterday at Cork District Court to assault causing harm to John O’Dwyer, aged 33, at Phoenix St, Cork, on Sept 29, 2012.
Inspector Bill Duane said gardaí arrived at the Crane Lane premises to find two security men restraining the female at the door.
“The female had kneed John O’Dwyer in the groin area a short time earlier.
“Rachel Clark was very intoxicated at the time. She was arrested and conveyed to the Bridewell Garda Station. There are no previous matters against her.”
Defence solicitor, Joseph Cuddigan, said he had concerns about whether it should have been a charge of assault or assault causing harm. He said that having seen the medical report, he was satisfied that the charge of assault causing harm was correct.
“She expressed her extreme embarrassment about what happened. Needless to say, what led to this was alcohol,” Mr Cuddigan said.
The solicitor said she hoped to raise in the region of €500 compensation for the injured party.
Judge Leo Malone put sentencing back for a fortnight and requested the injured party to attend.
