Man stabbed to death was home for Christmas from Australia

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man in his 20s, home from Australia for Christmas, was stabbed to death in Co Dublin.

Another man in his early 30s has been arrested and was being held last night under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

The incident happened at about 5.30am on St Stephen’s Day morning at Rathsallagh Park in Shankill.

Two men in their late 20s were found with serious stab injuries on the road and were taken by ambulance to St Vincent’s Hospital.

One of the men was pronounced dead shortly after 8am yesterday and the second man remains in a serious condition.

A section of Rathsallagh Park has been closed off for a Garda technical examination.

The dead man’s sister is flying home from Australia for his funeral.

It is understood that the dead man had been in Australia for several years.

It is believed a fight broke out in a house before it spilled out onto the road outside.
