SvP seeks help after toys run out

For the first time in its history, St Vincent de Paul has run out of toys for distribution to families — five days before Christmas.

According to Brendan Dempsey, charity volunteers working at its warehouse in Cork are “normally waist deep in toys” at this time of year but the last box left the depot yesterday afternoon.

The charity is also urgently appealing for dry, non-perishable food.
