Gardaí were acting on a call from an Estonian woman when they took a Roma girl into emergency care, it has emerged.

The blonde seven- year-old was one of two Roma children removed from their families and both cases are being investigated by Children’s Ombudsman Emily Logan.

A two-year-old boy, also blond and blue-eyed, was taken from his family home in Athlone on Oct 22 and returned, following inquiries, the next day.
