School principals in Kerry have been asked by the Revenue Commissioners to provide details of payments made by their schools for a wide range of services, including cleaning, maintenance work and extra-curricular activities.

Revenue recently sent letters requesting the information from 160 principals in primary, secondary and third-level institutions in the county.

However, some of the principals say they are already over-worked and are too busy to compile a database for Revenue stretching back four years.
