Oireachtas to grill Revenue chief over property tax row

The Revenue resisted calls for it to scrap its pre-Christmas deadline for up-front payments of the 2014 property tax bill. Yesterday it announced that those filing paper-based returns had an extra week to send in their payment details.

Postal returns will now have to be with the Revenue by Nov 14, instead of today. Internet payments will still be accepted until Nov 27. Those who do not wish to pay up front will have until Nov 27 to decide whether they want to settle their 2014 account by direct debit, a single account debit on Mar 21 or have it stopped from wages or welfare.
