Riverdance is showpiece of Limerick City of Culture

The 20th anniversary world tour of Riverdance will form the centrepiece of Limerick’s year as the City of Culture programme, which will be launched today.

The €6m programme, which is hoped will result in a massive spin-off for the city, also includes performances from James Galway and a film festival in honour of one of Limerick’s most favourite sons, Richard Harris.

Limerick takes over the city of culture mantle from Derry for 2014 and organisers are confident new Ryanair routes at Shannon will boost visitor figures.
