A Belgian donor has pledged €8,000 for the provision of a new EEG ambulatory machine after reading a story about the plight of a Killaloe toddler, whose seizures are detected by her family’s Great Dane, Charlie.

The international media attention in response to Charlie’s ability to detect Brianna Lynch’s seizures, up to 20 minutes before the start of each episode, has ensured that the initial target of raising €18,000 for one machine has already been exceeded.

Money is coming in through the Great Dane Society, which is being lodged to the Elaine Kirby and Mary Graydon Charity Account, Bank of Ireland, for the machine.
