Kenny declines invite to TV debate on Seanad

The Taoiseach will definitely not take part in a televised debate on the abolition of the Seanad, the Irish Examiner has learned.

It has been over a week since Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin confirmed he would take part in the one-hour debate on Tuesday in front of a studio audience hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan.

Mr Kenny was also invited but has remained silent on the issue. However, the Irish Examiner learned last night that the Taoiseach’s office has officially told RTÉ that he is declining the invitation.
