Taisce urges shopping centre parking tax

In its pre-budget submission it said such a levy would level the playing field between the large outlets and town centre shops.

An Taisce said the application of a retail parking levy at six of the largest out-of-town retail outlets near Dublin, Cork and Limerick cities could raise €16.68m. It said 85% of the revenue could be directed to local government: 50% for local transport services and 35% for local councils. An Taisce said the other 15% would then go to the exchequer.
