Schools will have to detail to parents how they are tackling bullying complaints under strict rules that recognise the scourge of cyberabuse for the first time.

School boards will also have to be given regular updates of unresolved cases as part of the regulations seen by the Irish Examiner.

The anti-bullying procedures for the country’s 4,000 primary and second-level schools will be launched by Education Minister Ruairi Quinn today. They set out clearly the role and responsibility for schools in tackling and preventing the growing problem.
