Varadkar looks at options for new Dublin transport system

Transport Minister Leo Varadkar has admitted his department is working on a replacement transport system for the capital in the event that Dublin Bus ceases to operate due to its financial difficulties.

Mr Varadkar said if the transport company were to go out of business “we could put public transport back together again”.

He was asked whether a receiver would be put in for Dublin Bus and if the receiver would run the company as it saw fit until a new structure was put in place.
