Killarney remains the country’s most expensive hotel destination with tourists willing to pay an average of €107 a night — just €6 less than the average room price in Rome.

The latest hotels.com hotel price index reveals the cost per night in the Kerry town in the first six months of this year was 5% higher than in the corresponding period in 2012.

Nationally, the average price increased by 2% to €92.
