1,500 HSE administrators ‘surplus to requirements’

The HSE has told the Government there are at least 1,500 administrators within its system that are “surplus to requirements”, Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin has confirmed.

Mr Howlin also said the HSE, in its current form, is “not fit for purpose”.

He had been asked about the health service’s repeated failure to meet expenditure targets in recent years.
