The domestic economy will be damaged if the Government attempts to ram through €3.1bn in cuts and savings in the October budget, Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin has warned.

Instead, relief should be provided for businesses and households, and funds should be pumped into stimulating the creation of jobs and indigenous companies, he said in an interview with the Irish Examiner.

As the main opposition party continues to sail high in recent opinion polls, Mr Martin revealed the territories where Fianna Fáil will defend and where offensive strategies are planned for next year’s local elections.
