Staff at four Marks & Spencer stores being closed as part of a strategic review, are to mount strike pickets outside their workplaces from Sept 10.

Trade union Mandate served notice on the company after members in Dún Laoghaire, Mullingar, Naas, and Tallaght outlets voted, by a margin of 88%, in favour of industrial action.

According to the union, the staff are angry that the company implemented compulsorily redundancy without exploring alternative options.
