Vogue’s Kerry shoot is ‘invaluable publicity’ for region
The bewitching, romantic shots by world-famous photographer Annie Leibovitz magically showcase the beauty of the Kerry landscape.
Entitled ‘Wild Irish Rose’, the nine-page fashion shoot features Daria Werbowy, the Polish-born Ukrainian model who lives part of the year in West Cork.
Werbowy teams up with Girls actor Adam Driver for the picture story as they walk in the footsteps of WB Yeats and Maud Gonne.
Fashion editor on the shoot was Grace Coddington, who fell in love with Ireland when she visited Werbowy at her home earlier this year.
Locations chosen by Coddington include the Killarney lakes as seen from Ladies View and Gleninchaquin falls in Tuosist near Kenmare.
Tourism Ireland’s head of North America, Alison Metcalfe, said: “Publicity is a very powerful tool in marketing the island of Ireland overseas and as American Vogue has an audience of more than 11m readers, this type of positive exposure is invaluable.
“The shoot showcases Ireland’s dramatic beauty to potential holiday-makers and helps to position Ireland as a highly desirable and fashionable place to visit on holiday.”
The American Vogue team stayed at the Aghadoe Heights Hotel in Killarney during their stay.

Annie Leibovitz, pictured right, is renowned for taking some of the world’s most iconic photographs over the last 40 years.
The 63-year-old joined Rolling Stone magazine in 1970 and within three years had become the magazine’s chief photographer at the age of just 23.
One of her first iconic series of photographs was taken when she was commissioned to cover the Rolling Stones’ world tour in 1975. One of the most notable was of Mick Jagger in a lift wearing a bathrobe and a towel around his head.
Five years later, she pictured a naked John Lennon hugging a clothed Yoko Ono for a Rolling Stone cover. A few hours later he was shot dead.
She joined Vanity Fair in 1983 where she took other headline-grabbing shoots including a pregnant and nude Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg in a bathtub of milk.
