Many victims of domestic violence do not believe even the worst attacks they suffer at the hands of a family member are crimes.

The findings were revealed after almost 2,500 respondents took part in a survey on domestic violence, by the North’s Department of Justice.

The new research showed more than 40% of victims did not consider their worst incident of partner abuse to be a criminal offence.
