Site sorry for ‘one night stand’ article

A student website has apologised for any offence caused to its readers and one of its advertising partners, 7Up, over an article that purportedly advised men on how best to secure one night stands.

Site sorry for ‘one night stand’ article

The article on collegetimes.ie, ‘One Night Stand Guide — for Men’ was written from the perspective of a man seeking sex. It suggested getting women drunk and focusing on women with possible “self-esteem issues”.

It sparked criticism from the Union of Students of Ireland (USI), whose president Joe O’Connor said: “The article was crass and insensitive in the extreme and will have been read by many as misogynistic, predatory nonsense. USI wholeheartedly condemns the article and we’re delighted that so many student activists and friends put the effort in to showing this up for the dismal attempt at edginess it is.”
