The widow of the drowned skipper of the doomed Tit Bonhomme trawler has called for an immediate review of how the 999 calls from the sinking vessel were handled the morning of the tragedy.

Michael Hayes’s wife, Caitlín Uí hAodha, said her family, and fishing organisations, still have serious concerns about how the first frantic call from the deck of the sinking vessel was managed on Jan 15, 2012.

“We feel that the 999 call was very poor — the management of it was appalling — absolutely not adequate enough,” she said.
