Siptu has accused Ibec of a “thinly camouflaged attempt” to insulate the well off from their tax commitments after the employers’ body called for no tax increases in the next budget.

Siptu: Ibec shielding well off from tax hikes

Ibec said the Government should rule out any tax increases and reduce the overall fiscal adjustment by €500m.

It said the economy and Irish workers are taxed enough and the Government’s focus should be on ways to reduce the tax burden, with the adjustment to be found through growing the economy and reducing public expenditure.
