Heatwave expected to continue for a week

Not that it would be hard to tumble records in the Irish weather stakes, but the next week is expected to see the best heatwave the country has experienced since Jul 2006.

Met Éireann has said weather models are indicating a high pressure ridge over the country which is likely to stay with us until Jul 14 and even beyond. Temperatures are also expected to rise as high as 27C or 28C in the midlands with coastal areas just a few degrees below that.
