Crewman hurt as yacht capsizes in gale force winds

These are the spectacular images from Dublin Bay, as hundreds of spectators watched a giant racing yacht capsize — catapulting the crew into the sea.
One of the crew was taken to hospital by air after gale force winds tipped the vessel over shortly after it crossed the starting line of the inaugural Route des Princes Grand Prix on Saturday afternoon.
Gusting winds caused overall race leader, Spindrift, to capsize seconds after starting the first in-port race at Dún Laoghaire on Saturday throwing 10 people overboard from the 70ft trimaran.
The boat fully capsized and broke its mast.
As boats rushed to the scene, skipper Yann Guichard’s brother Jacques was taken injured from the waters.
He was later diagnosed with multiple pelvic fractures.
The capsized boat was towed to shore and righted with a mobile crane.
However, due to the broken mast it is unable to continue in the race.
The around Europe race will be re-routed today after high winds again forced the abandonment of the in-port series yesterday.
