Swimmers have been cleared to return to the water at four popular beaches in Cork after quality tests declared them safe.

The beaches at Warren, Fountainstown, Tragumna, and Barleycove had been found not to comply with environmental regulations due to the presence of unacceptable levels of E.coli.

This resulted in advisory notices being placed at three of the beaches, while Fountainstown was declared off-limits by the HSE.
