Cork council misses out on €500k road fund

The department of transport confirmed that Cork County Council will get a total of €5.4m from a €50m national fund announced last week to repair regional and local road surfaces. It is the largest single slice of funding allocated to any local authority under this package.

When announcing the main fund last week, Transport Minister Leo Varadkar said as well as the funding being allocated to local authorities based on the length of road in their county, a top-up boost would be made available to councils with a good record of investing their own resources in road maintenance.
