Páidí’s pals raise funds for legend’s causes

He may no longer be with us, but Páidí Ó Sé remains the tie that binds.

Whether it be former taoisigh or tánaistí, sports stars of the present or past, the legendary West Kerry man still pulls a crowd.

More than 120 of his friends from sport, politics, and the arts gathered at Ceann Sibéal Golf Club yesterday for a Kerry GAA Society outing for Páidí’s Memorial Foundation.

Former taoiseach Brian Cowen was a longtime friend of the late Kerry legend, and brought his Offaly football friends Seamus Darby and Johnny Mooney for the occasion.

Former tánaiste Dick Spring enjoyed the glorious Kerry day but it was far from a Kerry love-in.

John Tobin came from Galway, Dublin veteran Robbie Kelleher played with Páidí’s brother Tom, and the Cork contingent was led by Billy Morgan and Colman Corrigan.

Eoin Hand was there for soccer, Mick Galwey for rugby, but all celebrated the king of West Kerry.

Kerry GAA society secretary Vincent O’Connor said Fondúireacht Páidí Ó Sé is raising funds to provide Kerry General Hospital with a cardiac CT scanner and to assist Mater Foundation funding.
