Judge releases stab victim’s body to partner

The President of the High Court said he hoped his decision about who would bury Dean Fitzpatrick would result in the grief borne by all Dean’s extended family being respected.

Mr Justice Nicholas Kearns released the body to Dean Fitzpatrick’s partner, Sarah O’Rourke, the mother of his child, rather than to his estranged parents, who were disputing where he should be buried.

The 23-year-old was stabbed at an apartment block in Malahide Rd, Dublin. He was the brother of missing Amy Fitzpatrick.
