Body discovered in waste chute of apartment block

A Garda investigation is under way following the discovery of man’s body in a waste chute in Cork city centre yesterday.

Gardaí were alerted to the discovery at North Gate House Apartments, North Main St, to the rear of the Gate Cinema, at about 5.30pm.

It is understood the discovery was made by a maintenance worker. The worker was responding to a request from the management company with responsibility for the apartment complex to clear the waste chute after residents reported a blockage.
