In a move that bears more than a passing resemblance to a lazy Hollywood slasher film plot, strangers travelling long distances during the strike have joined forces to help each other overcome the obstacle.

In recent days, social network site Twitter has been peppered with messages from Irish members seeking information from other users on how to get from A to B.
