Kenny: No radical rethink by EU

There will be no “radical rethink of where Europe stands” the Taoiseach said in comments that differed from — but did not mention — the view expressed last week by President Michael D Higgins.

Enda Kenny strongly suggested EU leaders should be speedier in following through on policies that have already been agreed — singling out the decision to separate bank from sovereign debt for Ireland — which has not yet been acted on.

“Rather than having endless — and I mean endless — arguments about different economic theories that may or may not be relevant, for now Europe has made its decisions and it should follow through on those,” he told the Dáil.
