Smoking in a pub saw a man being asked to put out the cigarette but another man with the smoker assaulted the bar manager.

Leon McCormack, aged 30, from Tipperary, and living at Amberley Grove, Grange, Douglas, Cork, pleaded guilty yesterday to a charge of assaulting Piotr Pietrzak at the Phoenix Bar on Union Quay, Cork, on Mar 11, 2012.

Insp Pat Meaney told Cork District Court yesterday that a man — not the defendant — started smoking inside the pub.
