A week-long cancellation of surgeries at one of Ireland’s largest hospitals — caused by a controversial hospital service changes — has ended, the HSE has claimed.

As revealed by the Irish Examiner on Saturday, since Monday, Apr 8, no elective surgery has taken place at Cork University Hospital.

The situation spread across all adult specialities and affected cancer patients among others. It was caused by changes to how hospitals operate in the HSE South.
