Nanny faces first-degree murder charge over death of baby in US

The 34-year-old had been due to appear in Cambridge District Court in the Boston suburb of Medford on April 22. However Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone moved yesterday to increase the charges from what had been up until then assault and battery on a child causing bodily injury.
Ms Brady has been in custody since her arrest on Jan 18, two days after the toddler died. The child had initially fallen unconscious on Jan 14 and was transported to Children’s Hospital in Boston where, according to authorities, the child was found to be suffering from subdural and retinal haemorrhaging along with cerebral swelling.
