Young social media users have been urged to act as whistleblowers when they encounter cyberbullying.

Orlaith Foley of the charity Headstrong, which deals with youth mental health issues, said it was “not cool to be a bystander”.

Ms Foley told Limerick Institute of Technology students yesterday that while being able to share information online was a hugely positive development, education was the key to tackling cyberbullying.
