GRA mulls snub to Garda Commissioner

Relations between frontline gardaí and the Garda Commissioner have reached a new low after it emerged the largest staff association is considering not inviting Martin Callinan to their annual conference next month.

Such a decision would be unprecedented and underlines the growing rebellion among members to cuts in pay and allowances in the Croke Park II agreement.

The Garda Representative Association, which represents 11,200 frontline gardaí, has already decided not to invite Justice Minister Alan Shatter to the conference.
