The Script’s success story continues as firms post figures

The Script’s story of conquering the music world continued last year with figures showing that profits from two firms controlled by band members topped £710,000 (€822,000) for 2012.

The Dublin band — led by Danny O’Donoghue – has just played to three sold out nights at the O2 in Dublin over the weekend where almost 45,000 music fans paid to hear anthems such as The Man Who Can’t be Moved.

The band played the first of three gigs at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast last night with the band’s current world tour taking in Australia, North America, Europe, and Asia.

At the O2 in Dublin at the weekend, fans sung along to favourites such as If You Ever Come Back, Talk You Down, and Nothing.

Figures show that O’Donoghue and band co-founder Mark Sheehan’s Madnotes Publishing Ltd and Madnotes Entertainment Ltd had combined profits last year totalling £711,386. The combined cash pile at the firms totalled £1.72m.

Accounts just filed with Companies House in the UK show that accumulated profits at Madnotes Publishing Ltd increased by £410,624 to £561,989 in the 12 months to the end of Apr 30, 2012.

The firm’s cash pile at the end of April last year was £735,002.

Accounts for a separate firm, Madnotes Entertainment Ltd show its accumulated profits increased by £300,762 to £729,503 last year.

The firm’s cash pile totalled £985,003.

The directors and shareholders of the two firms are the founding members of The Script, Danny O’Donoghue and Mark Sheehan.

The figures show that Madnotes Publishing Ltd made advances of £365,800 to Mark Sheehan during the year with Mr Sheehan repaying £362,800.

The figure for the firm also show that £365,800 in advances were made to Danny O’Donoghue during the year with Mr O’Donoghue repaying £414,510 — Mr O’Donoghue had owed £50,800 to the firm at the start of the year.

The band, who also include drummer Glen Power, who was recruited by the two, only reached number one in the UK last September with their single, Hall of Fame from their current album #3.

The accounts for the two firms are abridged and they are not required to provide a revenue figure or how much it paid its directors or staff.

The band released only their first album five years ago selling more than 2m copies worldwide.

Over the past five years, The Script has sold 4m albums and 9m singles.

Their second album Science & Faith entered the charts at No 3 in the US and spawned a massive radio hit For the First Time.

Underlining the growing popularity of the band, the group sold over 100,000 tickets for their current world tour within one hour of the tickets going on sale in September.
