Mozambique murder victim to be laid to rest
William Deasy, 32, from Carrig Court, Dublin Pike, was murdered just a short distance from his residence in Mozambique.
The quantity surveyor left his workplace at a titanium mine last Friday week and was travelling in a 4x4 owned by his employers, Clonmel-based Kentz, when he was attacked.
Workmates carried out a search when he failed to return home and informed local police that he was missing.
The police later found the vehicle around 200km away in a remote desert in the East African country.
His body was discovered just 1km from his home.
Mr Deasy, who was planning to further his education at King’s College, London, had worked for Kentz in Mozambique since 2011.
His distraught family issued a statement last week which said: “William was bright, intelligent, ambitious, and dedicated himself to his new job with great pride and energy.
“William will be very deeply missed by his distraught and proud parents, Pat and Abina, by his sisters Emma and Susan and by his brothers David and Paul.”
The family also asked that their privacy be respected, especially at the time of his funeral.
William will lie in repose at the Coburg Street Funeral Home of Jerh O’Connor at 5pm on Sunday.
His removal will take place at 7pm on Monday to the Church of the Annunciation, Blackpool.
Following requiem Mass at 11am on Tuesday he will be buried at St Oliver’s Cemetery, Model Farm Road.
