I’m not the €10.6m Lotto winner, says Corbett

Corbett tweeted his denial as the National Lottery confirmed a “family syndicate” collected the cheque after a €6 wager.
It had been heavily rumoured in Thurles — Corbett’s home town — that he had scooped the prize along with business partner Kevin Coppinger.
The 2010 hurler of the year runs a pub with Coppinger in the town.
“I would like to put a stop to all the story’s [sic] about the 10.6 million it is not TRUE,” Corbett tweeted.
The 31-year-old is in New York with other GAA stars helping to rebuild a youth sports facility that was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.
Business was reportedly brisk at Corbett’s bar as media and punters fuelled speculation the hurler and his business friend had struck gold.
The winning ticket was bought in Scanlon’s shop in Liberty Square, Thurles.
The National Lottery did not divulge how many people were in the group that collected the prize.
“We can’t believe our luck,” said one of the happy winners over a glass of champagne, the National Lottery said in a statement.
“We’ve been playing Lotto for years and always hoped we’d hit the jackpot one day.”
