Burton unaware of Gilmore coup plot

Deputy Labour leader Joan Burton has said she knows nothing of any reported plot to oust party leader Eamon Gilmore over the coming months.

The Social Protection Minister also insisted that she had a good working relationship with her Cabinet colleagues. She said that people on the street would not care about the internal business of a political party when the country was in such a bad economic state.

Speaking on TV3, she also hinted that recovery in the country’s finances could reduce the need for her department to make savings.
