Shatter targets bankruptcy in EU

An EU-wide crackdown on “bankruptcy tourism” has been signalled by Justice Minister Alan Shatter.

Mr Shatter said co-ordinated efforts were needed to limit the number of people heading to other jurisdictions in the hope of securing better insolvency terms.

Hosting a forum of European justice and interior ministers in Dublin today, Mr Shatter said tightening financial regulations would be on the agenda along with security issues.
