A new computerised system is to be launched by gardaí in Cork as part of a radical shake-up of the force in the city and county which, it is claimed, will improve their service to the public.

All emergency calls will soon be processed centrally in Anglesea St Garda Station instead of the county’s other divisional headquarters in Fermoy and Bandon.

Chief Superintendent Michael Finn, who is in charge of policing the city, said the new technology will enable gardaí in the command and control centre in Anglesea St to track ongoing responses to all calls they receive.
