Two gardaí ‘intimidated’ for revealing points abuse

A Garda staff association has expressed concerns at allegations from Independent TDs that two garda whistleblowers have been “intimidated”.

Deputies Mick Wallace and Clare Daly publicised claims made by two anonymous gardaí, who alleged there was mass abuse of the penalty points system and tens of thousands of tickets were terminated for dubious reasons.

One of the gardaí compiled a report detailing the allegations and included records downloaded from the Garda Pulse computer system. The allegations are being investigated by an internal garda probe.
