Labour senators will be warned that if they vote down budget cuts this week then a delay in legislation will result in €124m in lost savings for the Government.

The warning to members in the Seanad will be circulated for a meeting with Social Protection Minister Joan Burton today, and ahead of Seanad votes on the budget measures this week.

Senators will be told rejecting the bill could result in a potential 90-day delay in the legislation being enacted and the loss of €124m in three months’ worth of savings from the cuts.
