The Government was spared a budget day embarrassment as the number of people on the live register fell slightly, according to figures released from the CSO.

The number of potential workers not in full time employment stood at 14.6% for November, a 0.1% fall on the October figure.

Compared with Nov 2011, there were 12,290 fewer people looking for work.
