Gardaí ‘dismantle’ major drugs gangs

The drugs trade in one of the country’s main hubs for dealing has been badly hit after four significant gangs were “effectively dismantled”.

At least 40 people have been arrested and a further 10 arrests are expected as part of Operation Klaxon, which has been running in the Ballyfermot and Clondalkin areas of west Dublin for the past six months.

The operation, which targeted the sale of heroin and crack cocaine, was a covert investigation involving local drug units in Ballyfermot and Clondalkin and the Garda National Drugs Unit.
