180 jobs go

Healthcare firm Abbott blamed the streamlining of its global nutrition business for its decision to make 180 people redundant in Sligo.

It said the plant at Ballytivnan would enter a 30-day consultation process with staff with the departures to take place over the next 12 months. Abbott said it hoped the redundancies could be on a voluntary basis.
