Ex-lovers settle Titanic dispute
Last month, Carmel McGrath, who claimed she paid the costs of building the 16ft-long replica, secured a High Court injunction restraining Hungarian national Zoltan Panka from selling the model of the ill-fated ship that sank 100 years ago.
Ms McGrath claimed that Mr Panka took the model without permission from her home at Glenview Park, Dillon’s Cross, Cork, while she was away. She feared Mr Panka would sell the model, estimated to be worth up to €70,000, which she claims is jointly owned by the pair. She brought court proceedings aimed at having him return the replica to her.
Mr Panka denied there was any commercial relationship concerning the model or that he intended to sell it. He said the model was not worth a fraction of the value put on it by Ms McGrath.
Yesterday, when the matter returned before the High Court, Mr Justice Maureen Clarke was told that after talks between the parties’ legal teams, the matter had been resolved on terms not disclosed in open court.
