Pair charged with firearms offences in murder probe

A brother of murdered dissident republican Alan Ryan and another man have been charged with firearms offences as part of a garda investigation in to the murder of Dublin man Michael Kelly in 2011.

The two men have already been charged with IRA membership following paramilitary activity at the funeral of Alan Ryan in early Sep.

Vincent Ryan, aged 22, of Grange Ave Drive, Donaghmede, in Dublin 13, was yesterday additionally charged with the possession of an AKM assault rifle and Webley-make revolver MkV1 at Clonshaugh Walk, Coolock, Dublin 17, on Sep 15, 2011.

Darragh Evans, aged 23, of Grange Park Rise, Raheny, Dublin 5, is also charged with the same offence on the same date.

There was no application for bail.

Mr Justice Butler remanded the men in custody to appear before the non-jury court again on Oct 3.
